Oahu ~ The Meeting Place

Oahu - the “Gathering Place”- is the third largest island in the Hawaiian chain, encompassing 597 square miles. This is, by far, Hawaii’s most populous island, with more than 875,000 people (75 percent) of the state’s total population calling Oahu home. Its popular Waikiki Beach area plays host to the majority of vacationers. Although it has its share of tourist traps, Waikiki also has an expansive park, fabulous restaurants and nightlife, and even a large zoo and aquarium.

Explore the state's principal port city of Honolulu including Chinatown, the Bishop Musuem to the Dole Pineapple Factory and Hilo Hatties. In a somber moment, pay homage to our fallen war heroes at the moving exhibit on the USS Arizona. And don't forget the beautiful, clear water and sandy beaches of Kailua and Lanikai just over the Pali!
Like to Snorkel? You won't want to miss the popular Hanauma Bay. Just minutes away are other perennial favorites such as Sandy Beach, the Blow Hole and Sea Life Park.

For a taste of Oahu at its rugged best head to the Northshore, a 20-mile stretch of coastline from Ka‘ena Point to Turtle Bay. Stroll through the funky town of Hale‘iwa and its colorful assortment of surf shops, boutiques, art galleries and eateries. Each winter, the North Shore host some of the best surfing in the world with up to 25-foot waves challenging the sport’s best and bravest. Make time to visit Waimea Falls Park and the Polynesian cultural center to learn about ancient Hawaii and its people.
